The Bourne bus arrived today at its Thorney Island base, having had all its final graphics completed last week. I’m sure you’ll agree it looks splendid!

In the photos are Matt Roberts from Community Transport Sussex who delivered the bus and is showing the disabled lift, yours truly plus Jon Robinson (Thorney Barracks family Welfare Officer). Jon was also one of the original founders of the Bourne Bus project, the other being Tracie Bangert at Southbourne, featured in the other photo with Simon Taplin of STA training, shoe trained the drivers and Karl Seddon, one of our volunteer drivers.

Key dates:

  • Fri 27th May – Bourne Parishes lunch at Thorney Island 12:00 – 14:00 – AKB will pick up 3 people from each of Southbourne, Westbourne, Chidham and Hambrook and Emsworth for Island tour of the base and lunch
  • Sat 4th June - one bus will be featured in the Queens’s Silver Jubilee parade
  • Tuesday 7th June - likely launch date for the Bourne Bus first service outing (section 22 licence approval permitting)
