Chichester Harbour Conservancy - consultation
Published: 17 March 2021
In planning terms, the views of Chichester Harbour Conservancy carry substantial weight when it comes to proposed developments in and around the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). So as to focus on the key issues that may affect the AONB over any given planning application, the Conservancy developed a series of Planning Principles to promote and reinforce local distinctiveness. Collectively, they offer those seeking planning permission greater certainty on which to make their investment decisions. This strengthens relationships between the Local Planning Authorities, developers, voluntary organisations and general public, which in turn will strengthen the delivery of the AONB Management Plan. The 18 adopted Planning Principles, which were all subject to public consultation in 2018, can be found in Section 3 of the current Management Plan (2019-2024).
This year, Chichester Harbour Conservancy has developed a new Planning Principle on Houseboats. Once adopted, it will be used to guide the Conservancy’s response to applications for planning permission for new houseboats within the AONB. Between 12th March and 5pm on 30th April 2021, the Conservancy is inviting the interested general public to provide feedback on the wording of Planning Principle 19. Please send all comments to email@example.com. After the deadline, all feedback will be considered by the Conservancy’s Planning Committee at their next meeting.
The full text of Planning Principle 19 is now available to consider on the Conservancy’s website. We look forward to reading your views.
