Freedom of the Parish for outgoing Parish Councillor Cliff Archer

Published: 09 August 2022

A reception was held to thank and celebrate the achievements of one of our long-standing councillors. Cliff Archer had served an incredible 44 years on the Parish Council before he resigned last month. During this time, he held the position as Chairman, served on several committees and even held the post of acting Clerk. His contribution to the community has not been confined to the Parish Council as he has also been a School Governor, member of the Village Hall Management Committee and still serves on the PCC. He has been a stalwart of the community. It was through Cliff’s efforts and determination that Nutbourne East was brought into the Parish of Chidham & Hambrook, a clear gain for its residents and a feeling they had a ‘home’. His engineering expertise ensured that our ditches and drains have been well maintained and he is a passionate advocate of tree planting. His knowledge and attention to detail will be missed by all of us.

In recognition, Cliff was granted the Freedom of the Parish, which is the highest honour a Council can give and very well deserved.

We all wish Cliff the very best for his retirement.
